1000087830.jpgUS President Donald Trump has said he expects the conflict with Iran to be resolved soon, while leaving open the possibility of further US military strikes before the country’s midterm elections.

Speaking to Fox News on the sidelines of the PGA Tour Presidents Cup, Trump said he believed the war would end “very soon” and suggested that global oil prices could fall significantly once the conflict comes to an end.

Trump also said that preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon remains a central objective of US policy. When asked whether additional military strikes could take place before the US midterm elections, he declined to rule out the possibility.

The comments come amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran. Trump said the United States was applying pressure through both military action and economic sanctions, while claiming that the pressure had significantly affected Iran’s economy.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, meanwhile, said Tehran was prepared for a possible resumption of fighting but remained willing to pursue diplomacy. He said Iran was seeking the release of frozen assets and the ability to sell its oil as part of any negotiated settlement.

The dispute is also closely linked to the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important waterway for global energy shipments. Iran has connected the reopening of the maritime route to negotiations and the easing of certain US restrictions.

Trump’s latest comments therefore indicate that military action remains a possibility even as both sides continue to discuss diplomatic options. No final agreement to end the conflict has been announced.

The situation remains fluid, with the United States and Iran holding different positions on the conditions required for a ceasefire and broader negotiations.
