According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the naval vessels were conducting routine patrols when they intercepted a suspicious boat. During a boarding operation, naval personnel searched the vessel and discovered a large quantity of narcotics hidden inside concealed compartments.

The seized drugs were estimated to have a value of approximately $750 million, according to Radio Pakistan.

The operation highlights the Pakistan Navy’s ongoing role in monitoring maritime routes and preventing illegal trafficking at sea. The navy said the successful interception demonstrated the vigilance and professionalism of its personnel involved in the operation.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf praised the officers and crew of PNS HUNAIN and PNS YARMOOK for their performance during the operation. He reaffirmed the navy’s commitment to protecting Pakistan’s maritime interests and supporting efforts against illicit trafficking.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also commended the Pakistan Navy for the successful operation. They highlighted the navy’s role in protecting maritime boundaries and preventing illegal activities through the sea.

The seizure is part of wider efforts to combat the movement of illegal narcotics through maritime routes. Such operations also contribute to broader regional maritime security by disrupting trafficking networks operating at sea.

Pakistan Navy officials have reaffirmed that surveillance and counter-narcotics operations will continue as part of efforts to maintain security and prevent illicit activities in the country’s maritime domain.
