Former child star Jonathan Taylor Thomas, widely known for playing Randy Taylor on the popular sitcom Home Improvement, was detained following a traffic stop in California.

The incident reportedly took place on September 21 in Westlake Village, where deputies stopped a vehicle during an investigation involving a suspected DUI. Thomas was reportedly a passenger in the vehicle.

According to authorities, Thomas repeatedly got out of the vehicle and approached deputies while they were conducting the investigation. Police said he allegedly interfered with their efforts and was subsequently detained on suspicion of obstruction and public intoxication.

Authorities also alleged that Thomas kicked a sheriff’s deputy in the stomach during the incident. He was taken to a local sheriff’s station and later released from custody.

The driver of the vehicle was separately arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Thomas became a well-known child actor during the 1990s through his role on Home Improvement. He also gained recognition as the voice of young Simba in Disney’s The Lion King and appeared in several other television shows and films.

The actor has largely stayed away from Hollywood in recent years, making the latest incident notable among fans who remember his career as a child star.

At the time of the latest reports, the allegations against Thomas had not resulted in a criminal conviction. Any potential charges would be subject to the legal process and review by prosecutors.
